The Messenger of Allah ﷺ, when he awoke during the night, would say, "There is no god but You, glory be to You. O Allah, I seek Your forgiveness for my sins and ask You for Your mercy. O Allah, increase me in knowledge, do not let my heart deviate after You have guided me, and grant me mercy from Yourself, for You are the Bestower."
أن رسول الله ﷺ كان إذا استيقظ من الليل قال: لا إله إلا أنت سبحانك اللهم أستغفرك لذنبي، وأسألك رحمتك، اللهم زدني علما، ولا تزغ قلبي بعد إذ هديتني، وهب لي من لدنك رحمة، إنك أنت الوهاب.
Abu Dawud (5061), Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (865), Ibn Hibban (5531) who graded it sahih, and Hakim (1/540) all narrated it, all of them through the route of Saeed bin Abu Ayub, who said, Abdullah bin Walid (he is Ibn Qays) narrated to me, from Saeed bin Musayab, from Ayesha, and he mentioned it.Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain of transmission."Ibn Hajar said in Nataij Afkar (1/118–119), "This is a hasan hadith... its narrators are the narrators of the sahih works, except for Abdullah bin Walid, who is an Egyptian about whom there is disagreement. And Allah knows best. I say, he is hasan in hadith outside of matters of rulings, so long as he does not bring something that is objected to."
