Ibn Umar sent me on an errand and said, "Come, let me bid you farewell as the Messenger of Allah ﷺ bade me farewell when he sent me on an errand for him. He said, 'I entrust to Allah your religion, your trust, and the final deeds of your life.'"
أرسلني ابن عمر في حاجة فقال: تعال حتى أودعك كما ودعني رسول الله ﷺ وأرسلني في حاجة له فقال: أستودع الله دينك وأمانتك وخواتيم عملك.
Ahmad (6199) and Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (512) both narrated it through the hadith of Abu Naeem, who said, "Abdul-Aziz bin Umar bin Abdul-Aziz narrated to us, from Yahya bin Ismail bin Jareer, from Qazaa," and he mentioned it.There is disagreement over its chain of transmission going back to Abdul-Aziz bin Umar bin Abdul-Aziz, and Abu Zura, Abu Hatim, and Daraqutni gave preference to the version mentioned above. See Ilal Ibn Abu Hatim (790) and Ilal Daraqutni (13/205).Its chain is hasan, on account of what has been said about Yahya bin Ismail bin Jareer. Ibn Hibban graded him trustworthy, while Daraqutni said, "He cannot be used as a proof."However, the hadith is strengthened by coming through other routes. It was narrated by Abu Dawud (2600), Tirmidhi (3442-3443), and Ibn Majah (2826), and it was graded sahih by Ibn Khuzayma (2531), Ibn Hibban (2693), and Hakim (1/442), all of them through routes going back to Ibn Umar, though there is some disagreement within some of its routes. Taken together, the hadith is hasan.
