Anas reported that the Prophet ﷺ came to visit Saad bin Ubada, who brought out bread and oil. After eating, the Prophet ﷺ said, "May those who fast break their fast with you, may the righteous eat your food, and may the angels send blessings upon you."
أن البني ﷺ جاء إلى سعد بن عبادة فجاء بخبز وزيت، فأكل ثم قال: أفطر عندكم الصائمون، وأكل طعامكم الأبرار، وصلت عليكم الملائكة.
Abu Dawud (3854) narrated it from Makhlad bin Khalid, who said, Abdul-Razzaq narrated to us, Mamar informed us, from Thabit, from Anas, and he related it. The hadith has other chains of transmission, and this is the soundest of them. Nawawi graded it sahih in Adhkar, as did Ibn Hajar in Talkhis (3/199).As for what was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah, who said, Abu Haytham bin Tayhan prepared a meal for the Prophet ﷺ, so the Prophet ﷺ invited him along with his companions. When they had finished, he said, "Reward your brother." They said, "Messenger of Allah, what is his reward?" He said, "When a man enters someone's house and eats his food and drinks his drink, then prays for him, that is his reward." This is daif.Abu Dawud (3853) narrated it from Muhammad bin Bashshar, who said, Abu Ahmad narrated to us, Sufyan narrated to us, from Yazid Abu Khalid Dalani, from a man, from Jabir bin Abdullah, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is daif because the narrator from Jabir is unnamed, and Ibn Hajar identified this as the defect in Nataij Afkar, as cited in Futuhat Rabbaniya (5/248).
