The Prophet ﷺ, whenever he feared a people, would say, "O Allah, we place You before them and seek refuge in You from their evil."
أن النبي ﷺ كان إذا خاف قوما قال: اللهم إنا نجعلك في نحورهم، ونعوذ بك من شرورهم.
Reported by Abu Dawud (1537), Ahmad (19720), and Nasai in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (601), and Ibn Hibban declared it sahih (4765), as did Hakim (2/142), all of them through routes from Muaz bin Hisham, who said, my father narrated to me, from Qatada, from Abu Burda bin Abdullah bin Qays, from his father Abdullah bin Qays, who is Abu Musa Ashari, and he related it.Its chain of transmission is sahih, and Nawawi also declared it sahih in al-Adhkar. Hakim said, this is a sahih hadith according to the criterion of the two Shaykhs.
