He asked Anas bin Malik, while the two of them were heading from Mina to Arafah, "How did you used to do on this day with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"Anas replied, "One of us would call out the talbiyah and no one would object to him, and another would call out the takbir and no one would object to him."
أنه سأل أنس بن مالك. وهما غاديان من منى إلى عرفة… كيف كنتم تصنعون في هذا اليوم مع رسول الله ﷺ؟ قال: كان يهل المهل منا فلا ينكر عليه، ويكبر المكبر فلا ينكر عليه.
Malik narrated it in Hajj (43) from Muhammad bin Abu Bakr Thaqafi, that he asked Anas bin Malik, and he mentioned it.Bukhari narrated it in Hajj (1659), and Muslim in Hajj (1285), both of them via Malik, with the same wording.
