When the Prophet ﷺ rose at night to perform tahajjud, he would say, "O Allah, to You belongs all praise. You are the Sustainer of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You belongs all praise. Yours is the dominion of the heavens and the earth and all that is in them. To You belongs all praise. You are the Light of the heavens and the earth. To You belongs all praise. You are the Sovereign of the heavens and the earth. To You belongs all praise. You are the Truth, Your promise is true, the meeting with You is true, Your word is true, Paradise is true, the Fire is true, the prophets are true, Muhammad is true, and the Hour is true. O Allah, to You I have submitted, in You I have believed, upon You I have relied, to You I turn in repentance, by Your aid I dispute, and to Your judgment I refer. So forgive me what I have done in the past and what I will do in the future, what I have concealed and what I have made public. You are the One who brings forward and the One who puts back. There is no god but You, no god other than You."Sufyan said that Abdul-Kareem Abu Umaya added, "And there is no power and no strength except with Allah."
كان النبي ﷺ إذا قام من الليل يتهجد قال: اللهم لك الحمد أنت قيم السماوات والأرض ومن فيهن، ولك الحمد لك ملك السماوات والأرض ومن فيهن، ولك الحمد أنت نور السماوات والأرض، ولك الحمد أنت ملك السماوات والأرض، ولك الحمد أنت الحق، ووعدك الحق، ولقاؤك حق، وقولك حق، والجنة حق والنار حق، والنبيون حق، ومحمد حق، والساعة حق. اللهم لك أسلمت، وبك آمنت، وعليك توكلت، وإليك أنبت، وبك خاصمت، وإليك حاكمت، فاغفر لي ما قدمت وما أخرت، وما أسررت، وما أعلنت، أنت المقدم، وأنت المؤخر لا إله إلا أنت لا إله غيرك. قال سفيان: وزاد عبد الكريم أبو أمية: ولا حول ولا قوة إلا بالله.
Bukhari narrated it in tahajjud (1120), and Muslim in the prayer of the traveler (769), both from the hadith of Sufyan, from Sulayman bin Abu Muslim Ahwal, from Tawus, who heard Ibn Abbas say what has already been mentioned.Malik narrated it in the Quran (34) from Abu Zubayr Makki, from Tawus Yamani, from Abdullah bin Abbas, that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ stood for prayer in the depths of the night, he would say what has already been mentioned, except that here it has "You are the sustainer of the heavens and the earth" instead of "the sustainer of the heavens..." and at the end of the hadith he said, "You are my God, there is no god but You."Muslim narrated it (769) from Qutayba bin Saeed, from Malik.In another version, Ibn Abbas said that during tahajjud, after saying "Allah is greatest," the Messenger of Allah ﷺ would go on to say what follows.
