Awn bin Abdullah bin Utbah reported that a man prayed beside Abdullah bin Amr bin As and heard him say after the salam, "You are Peace, and from You comes peace. Blessed are You, Possessor of Majesty and Honor."Then the man prayed beside Abdullah bin Umar, and when he gave the salam, he heard him say the same thing. The man laughed.Ibn Umar asked him, "What made you laugh?"He replied, "I prayed beside Abdullah bin Amr and heard him say the same words you just said."Ibn Umar said, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to say that."
أن عون بن عبد الله بن عتبة قال: صلى رجل إلى جنب عبد الله بن عمرو بن العاصي، فسمعه حين سلم يقول: أنت السلام ومنك السلام، تباركت يا ذا الجلال والإكرام، ثم صلى إلى جنب عبد الله بن عمر حين سلم، فسمعه يقول مثل ذلك، فضحك الرجل، فقال له ابن عمر: ما أضحكك؟ قال: إني صليت إلى جنب عبد الله بن عمرو فسمعته يقول مثل ما قلت، قال ابن عمر: كان رسول الله ﷺ يقول ذلك.
Nasai narrated it in Al-Kubra (10125), and Tabarani (12/339), both through the route of Saeed bin Hakam bin Abu Maryam, who said, Yahya bin Ayub informed us, Jafar bin Rabia narrated to me, and he mentioned it.Nasai said afterward, "Yahya bin Ayub has munkar narrations, and he is not that strong in hadith."I say, this Yahya bin Ayub is al-Ghafiqi al-Misri, and there is disagreement about him, but his hadith is hasan unless the opposite becomes clear, and there is nothing in either his isnad or the text of this hadith that would be objected to. It has been established in other hadiths that the Prophet ﷺ used to say after the prayer, "O Allah, You are peace and from You comes peace, blessed are You, O possessor of majesty and honor," and it has been established in the sahih literature, from the hadith of Ibn Abbas, that the voice was raised in remembrance after the prayer.Haythami said in Al-Majma (10/102), "Tabarani narrated it, and its men are the men of the sahih."
