Ayesha reported,

Aisha said, "Two old women from among the elderly Jewish women of Madinah came to visit me. They said to me, 'The people of the graves are tormented in their graves.' I did not believe them and was unwilling to accept what they said, so they left. Then the Prophet ﷺ came in to see me, and I said to him, 'Messenger of Allah, two old women from among the elderly women of Madinah came in to see me, and they claimed that the people of the graves are tormented in their graves.'He replied, 'They spoke the truth. They are tormented with a punishment that all the animals can hear.'"She said, "After that, I never saw him perform a prayer without seeking refuge from the punishment of the grave."
