He heard Umar bin Khattab teaching the people the tashahhud from the pulpit, saying, "Say, 'All greetings belong to Allah, all pure acts belong to Allah, all good deeds belong to Allah, all prayers belong to Allah. Peace be upon you, Prophet, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings. Peace be upon us and upon the righteous servants of Allah. I bear witness that there is no god but Allah, and I bear witness that Muhammad is His servant and His messenger.'"
أنه سمع عمر بن الخطاب يعلم الناس التشهد على المنبر، فيقول: قولوا: التحيات لله، الزاكيات لله، الطيبات لله، الصلوات لله، السلام عليك أيها النبي ورحمة الله وبركاته، السلام علينا وعلى عباد الله الصالحين، أشهد أن لا إله إلا الله، وأشهد أن محمدا عبده ورسوله.
Malik narrated it in the Prayer chapter (57), from Ibn Shihab, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Qari, and mentioned it. Abdul-Razzaq also narrated it (2/202), and Bayhaqi (2/144) narrated it from him, from Maamar, from Zuhri, from Urwa bin Zubayr, from Abdul-Rahman bin Abdul-Qari, mentioning something similar.Maamar said, "Zuhri used to follow this and would say, 'He taught it to the people from the pulpit, while the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ were numerous and did not object to it.'" Maamar said, "And I follow it." Abdul-Razzaq said, "And I follow it."
