The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Purification is half of faith, 'Praise be to Allah' fills the scale, and 'Glory be to Allah' and 'Praise be to Allah' fill, or fills, what is between the heavens and the earth..." The hadith continues.
قال رسول الله ﷺ: الطهور شطر الإيمان، والحمد لله تملأ الميزان، وسبحان الله والحمد لله تملآن- أو تملأ- ما بين السموات والأرض… الحديث.
Muslim narrated it in the Book of Purification (223), from Ishaq bin Mansur, who said, our teacher Habban bin Hilal narrated to us, who said, our teacher Aban (that is, bin Yazid Attar) narrated to us, who said, our teacher Yahya (that is, bin Abu Kathir) narrated to us, that Ziyad told him that Abu Salam told him, from Abu Malik Ashari, and he mentioned it.Similar in meaning is what was narrated from a man of Banu Salim, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ counted them on my hand or on his own hand, saying, "Tasbih is half of the scale, and al-hamdu lillah fills it, and takbir fills what is between heaven and earth, and fasting is half of patience, and purification is half of faith." This was narrated by Tirmidhi (3519) and Ahmad (18287), both through routes from Abu Ishaq, from Jurayy Nahdi, from a man of Banu Salim, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan hadith, and Shubah and Sufyan Thawri also narrated it from Abu Ishaq."I say, its chain contains Jurayy Nahdi, who is Ibn Kulayb Kufi, and he is different from Jurayy bin Kulayb Sadusi Basri, as Abu Dawud stated. He is unknown, as Ibn Madini said, even though Ibn Hibban mentioned him among the trustworthy narrators according to his usual practice. For this reason Ibn Hajar said "acceptable," meaning if corroborated, otherwise his hadith is weak.Likewise, similar in meaning is what was narrated from Abdullah bin Amr, who said, the Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Tasbih is half of the scale, and al-hamdu lillah fills it, and there is no god but Allah, for which there is no veil before Allah until it reaches Him directly." This was narrated by Tirmidhi (3518), from Hasan bin Arafah, who said, Ismail bin Ayyash narrated to us, from Abdul-Rahman bin Ziyad, from Abdullah bin Yazid, from Abdullah bin Amr, and he mentioned it. Tirmidhi said, "This is a gharib hadith by this route, and its chain is not strong."I say, Abdul-Rahman bin Ziyad is Ibn Anum Afriqi, who is daif, and Ismail bin Ayyash is daif in his narrations from those who are not from the people of Syria, and this is one of them.
