Three men from the tribe of Banu Udhrah came to the Prophet ﷺ and accepted Islam. The Prophet ﷺ asked, "Who will take care of them for me?"Talha said, "I will."So they stayed with Talha. The Prophet ﷺ then dispatched a military expedition, and one of them went out and was martyred. Then he dispatched another expedition, and another of them went out and was martyred. The third later died on his bed.Talha said, "I saw these three men who had stayed with me in a dream, and they were in Paradise. I saw the one who died on his bed ahead of them, the one who was martyred last following him, and the one who was martyred first behind them all. This troubled me, so I came to the Prophet ﷺ and mentioned it to him."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "What is it about that which you find strange? No one is more virtuous before Allah than a believer whose life is prolonged in Islam, for his glorification, his takbeer, and his declaration of Allah's oneness."
أن نفرا من بني عذرة ثلاثة أتوا النبي ﷺ فأسلموا قال: فقال النبي ﷺ: من يكفنيهم؟ قال طلحة: أنا، قال: فكانوا عند طلحة فبعث النبي ﷺ بعنا، فخرج أحدهم، فاستشهد، قال: ثم بعث بعثا فخرج فيهم آخر فاستشهد، قال: ثم مات الثالث على فراشه. قال طلحة: فرأيت هؤلاء الثلاثة الذين كانوا عندي في الجنة، فرأيت الميت على فراشه أمامهم، ورأيت الذي استشهد أخيرا يليه، ورأيت الذي استشهد أولهم آخرهم، قال: فدخلني من ذلك، قال: فأتيت النبي ﷺ فذكرت ذلك له، قال: فقال رسول الله ﷺ: وما أنكرت من ذلك؟ ليس أحد أفضل عند الله من مؤمن يعمر في الإسلام لتسبيحه وتكبيره وتهليله.
Ahmad (1401) narrated it from Waki, who said, Talha bin Yahya bin Talha told me, from Ibrahim bin Muhammad bin Talha, from Abdullah bin Shaddad, who said... and then he related it. Its chain of transmission is hasan because of Talha bin Yahya bin Talha Taymi Madani, for he is hasan al-hadith. Abdullah bin Shaddad is Ibn Hadi Laythi Madani, one of the senior trustworthy Successors, and he heard this hadith from Talha bin Ubaydullah, as is explicitly stated at the end of the hadith.As for what was narrated from Abu Hurairah, that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ passed by him while he was planting seedlings and said, "Abu Hurairah, what are you planting?" I said, "Seedlings of mine." He said, "Shall I not show you a planting better for you than this?" He said, "Yes, Messenger of Allah." He said, "Say, 'Glory be to Allah, praise be to Allah, there is no god but Allah, and Allah is greatest,' and a tree will be planted for you in Paradise for each one." This chain is daif.Ibn Majah (3807) and Hakim (1/512) both narrated it through the route of Hammad bin Salama, from Abu Sinan, from Uthman bin Abu Sawda, from Abu Hurairah, who related it. Hakim said, "This is a hadith sahih in its chain of transmission." So he said! But its chain includes Abu Sinan, who is Isa bin Sinan Qasmali, whom Ahmad, Abu Zura, Abu Hatim, Fasawi, Nasai, and others have declared daif.
