I was sitting with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ in the circle when a man came and greeted the Prophet ﷺ and the people, saying, "Peace be upon you."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "And upon you be peace, and the mercy of Allah and His blessings."When the man sat down, he said, "Praise be to Allah, abundant praise, good and blessed, as our Lord loves and is pleased with."The Prophet ﷺ asked him, "How did you say it?"The man repeated to the Prophet ﷺ what he had said.The Prophet ﷺ then said, "By the One in whose hand my soul is, ten angels rushed to record it, each eager to write it down. They hurried, uncertain how to write it, until they raised the matter to the Lord of Might, who said, 'Write it as My servant said it.'"
كنت جالسا مع رسول الله ﷺ في الحلقة إذ جاء رجل فسلم على النبي ﷺ وعلى القوم، فقال: السلام عليكم، فرد عليه النبي ﷺ: وعليكم السلام ورحمة الله وبركاته. فلما جلس الرجل قال: الحمد لله حمدا كثيرا طيبا مباركا فيه كما يحب ربنا ويرضى. فقال له النبي ﷺ: كيف قلت؟ فرد على النبي ﷺ كما قال، فقال النبي ﷺ: والذي نفسي بيده لقد ابتدرها عشرة أملاك كلهم حريص على أن يكتبوها، فبادروا كيف يكتبونها حتى رفعوه إلى ذي العزة فقال: اكتبوها كما قال عبدي.
Nasai narrated it in Amal al-Yawm wal-Layla (341) from Qutayba bin Saeed, who said, "Khalaf narrated to us, from the son of the brother of Anas, from Anas," and he mentioned it. Its isnad is hasan because of Khalaf, who is Khalaf bin Khalifa bin Said al-Ashjai, their freedman, al-Wasiti, and he is hasan al-hadith. Ibn Adi said, "I hope there is no harm in him, though I cannot absolve him of erring in some hadiths in some of his narrations." I say, his memory became confused toward the end of his life, and Muslim included a narration from him transmitted by Qutayba. Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (845), and Diya in al-Mukhtara (1887), both from the hadith of Qutayba bin Saeed, with the same wording, similarly. Imam Ahmad also recorded it (12612) through another route from Khalaf with his isnad, similarly.What has been narrated through other routes from Anas, that the man who said that during the prayer, does not contradict what Khalaf narrated, since it can be understood as referring to more than one occasion.The son of the brother of Anas is Hafs bin Umar, as stated in the narration of Imam Ahmad, so he would be Hafs bin Umar bin Abdullah bin Abu Talha, who is the son of the brother of Anas through his mother, and he is "truthful." Al-Hakim graded a hadith of his about the prayer as sahih (1/503) according to the criterion of Muslim, but he was mistaken, for this son of the brother of Anas was not narrated from by Muslim. Rather, Abu Dawud, Tirmidhi, and Bukhari in Adab al-Mufrad narrated from him, as indicated by al-Hafiz's symbol for him in al-Taqrib.
