The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "On Friday, angels stand at every gate of the mosque recording who arrives first, then the next, and so on. When the imam sits down, they fold up their scrolls and come to listen to the remembrance. The one who comes earliest is like a person who offers a camel as sacrifice, then the next is like one who offers a cow, then like one who offers a ram, then like one who offers a chicken, then like one who offers an egg."
قال رسول الله ﷺ: إذا كان يوم الجمعة كان على كل باب من أبواب المسجد ملائكة يكتبون: الأول فالأول، فإذا جلس الإمام طووا الصحف، وجاؤا يستمعون الذكر. ومثل المهجر كمثل الذي يهدي البدنة، ثم كالذي يهدي بقرة، ثم كالذي يهدي الكبش، ثم كالذي يهدي الدجاجة، ثم كالذي يهدي البيضة.
Bukhari narrated it in the Book of Jumuah (929) and Muslim in the Book of Jumuah (850), both from the hadith of Ibn Shihab, who said, Abu Abdullah al-Aghar informed me, from Abu Hurairah, and he related the hadith. The wording given is that of Muslim, and Bukhari's wording is close to it, with some parts placed earlier or later.
