Bukhari related it in "The Excellence of Prayer in the Masjid of Makkah and Madinah" (1188, 1196), and Muslim in "Hajj" (1391: 502), both through the route of Ubaydullah bin Umar, who said, Khubayb bin Abdul-Rahman told me, from Hafs bin Asim, from Abu Hurairah, and he related it.Ibn Abu Shayba related it (32316) from Abu Usama and Ibn Numayr, both from Ubaydullah bin Umar with his chain, and in it he said, "Between my grave and my pulpit is a garden from the gardens of Paradise..." His saying "my grave" is an expression used by one of the narrators to describe the actual situation, not an expression the Prophet ﷺ himself used, since his grave did not exist at that time. Mention of the grave likewise occurs in other hadiths, some sahih and some daif, and all of them should be understood in this same sense.As for the dome that stands over his ﷺ grave, the first to build it was Sultan Muhammad bin Qalawun Salihi in the year 678 AH. It was later renewed by Nasir Hasan bin Muhammad bin Qalawun, and it used to be built of gypsum and lead. The first to paint it green was the Ottoman Sultan Abdul-Hameed, in the year 1253 AH.
