The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Adam and Musa met. Musa said to Adam, 'Are you the one who brought misery upon mankind and caused them to be expelled from Paradise?'Adam replied, 'Are you the one whom Allah chose for His message, selected for Himself, and to whom He revealed the Torah?'Musa said, 'Yes.'Adam asked, 'Did you find it decreed against me before He created me?'Musa said, 'Yes.'So Adam prevailed over Musa in the argument."
عن رسول الله ﷺ قال: التقى آدم وموسى، فقال موسى لآدم: أنت الذي أشقيت الناس، وأخرجتهم من الجنة؟ قال له آدم: أنت الذي اصطفاك الله برسالته، واصطفاك لنفسه، وأنزل عليك التوراة؟ قال: نعم. فوجدتها كتب علي قبل أن يخلقني؟ قال: نعم. فحج آدم موسى.
Bukhari narrated it in the Tafsir (4736) from Salit bin Muhammad, who said, "Mahdi bin Maymun narrated to us, who said, 'Muhammad bin Sirin narrated to us, from Abu Hurairah,'" and he related the hadith, and this is his wording.Muslim narrated it in the Qadar (2652:15) through another route from Muhammad bin Sirin, from Abu Hurairah, except that he did not give its wording, but rather referred it to what had preceded. He probably meant by this the hadith of Yazid bin Hurmuz and Abdul-Rahman Araj, both of them from Abu Hurairah, as will come later.
