The tribe of Tamim was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and a man said, "This tribe of Tamim has been slow to respond to this matter."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ looked toward Mazina and said, "How slow these people are compared to them."On another day, a man said, "These people of Tamim have been slow in bringing their charitable donations."Then camels, both red and black, came in droves belonging to Banu Tamim, and the Prophet ﷺ said, "These are the camels of my people."One day a man spoke ill of Banu Tamim in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, "Say nothing but good of Banu Tamim, for they will have the longest spears against the Dajjal."
أن تميما ذكروا عند رسول الله ﷺ، فقال رجل: أبطأ هذا الحي من تميم عن هذا الأمر. فنظر رسول الله ﷺ إلى مزينة، فقال: ما أبطأ قوم هؤلاء منهم. وقال رجل يوما: أبطأ هؤلاء القوم من تميم بصدقاتهم، قال: فأقبلت نعم حمر وسود لبني تميم، فقال النبي ﷺ: هذه نعم قومي. ونال رجل من بني تميم عند رسول الله ﷺ يوما، فقال: لا تقل لبني تميم إلا خيرا، فإنهم أطول الناس رماحا على الدجال.
Ahmad (17533) narrated it from Abdul-Samad (he is Ibn Abdul-Warith), who said, Umar bin Hamza narrated to us, Ikrima bin Khalid narrated to us, he said, a man from Banu Tamim reviled him in his presence, so he took a handful of pebbles to throw at him. Then Ikrima said, So-and-so from the companions of the Prophet ﷺ narrated to me, he said, and he related it. Its chain of transmission is sahih.Umar bin Hamza al-Dabbi was deemed trustworthy by Ibn Main, as mentioned in Jarh wa Tadil (6/104). Haythami said in Majma (10/47-48), "Ahmad narrated it, and its narrators are the narrators of al-Sahih." He said this, may Allah have mercy on him, even though Umar bin Hamza al-Dabbi was not narrated from by any of the compilers of the six books, so perhaps he confused him with Umar bin Hamza al-Umari.
