I heard al-Urs, who was among the companions of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, say, "I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, 'A servant may perform the deeds of the people of the Fire, then a path from the paths of Paradise is presented to him and he follows it until he dies upon it, and that is because of what was decreed for him. And a man may perform the deeds of the people of Paradise for a stretch of his life, then a path from the paths of the people of the Fire is presented to him and he follows it until he dies upon it, and that is because of what was decreed against him.'"
سمعت العرس- وكان من أصحاب رسول الله ﷺ- يقول: سمعت رسول الله ﷺ يقول: إن العبد ليعمل بعمل أهل النار، ثم تعرض له الجادة من جواد الجنة فيعمل بها حتى يموت عليها، وذلك لما كتب. وإن الرجل ليعمل بعمل أهل الجنة البرهة من دهره، ثم تعرض له الجادة من جواد أهل النار فيعمل بها حتى يموت عليها، وذلك لما كتب عليه.

Bazzar narrated it in Kashf Astar (2159), from Ibrahim bin Abdullah bin Junayd, who said, Saeed bin Kathir bin Ufayr narrated to us, who said, Abdullah bin Wahb narrated to us, from Yunus bin Yazid, from Ibn Abu Abla, from Adi bin Adi, and he related it.Ibn Abu Asim also narrated it in Sunnah (119) through another route from Saeed bin Kathir, with his chain, in similar fashion, stopped at Urs, except that he said at the end of the hadith, "I think it is from the Messenger of Allahﷺ." Its chain of transmission is sahih.Ibn Abu Abla's name was Ibrahim Shami, and he is one of the narrators found in the major hadith collections.Haythami said in Majma (7/212), "Bazzar narrated it, as did Tabarani in Saghir and Kabir, and their narrators are trustworthy."Urs is Ibn Qays bin Saad bin Arqam Kindi, who had companionship with the Prophet. He is sometimes attributed to his mother, "Umayrah."
