The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "You will conquer Egypt, a land where the qirat is the unit of measure. When you conquer it, treat its people well, for they have a covenant of protection and a bond of kinship," or he said, "a covenant of protection and a bond of marriage. When you see two men disputing there over the space of a single brick, leave that land."
Muslim narrated it in the Excellent Qualities of the Companions (25:2543), from Zuhayr bin Harb and Abdullah bin Saeed, who said, Wahb bin Jareer told us, my father told us, I heard Harmala Misri narrating from Abdul-Rahman bin Sahammasa, from Abu Basra, from Abu Dharr, and he related it.As for what was narrated from Ibn Abbas, who said, "Umm Ibrahim was mentioned in the presence of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and he said, 'Her child has freed her,'" this is daif. Ibn Majah narrated it (2516) from Ahmad bin Yusuf, who said, Abu Asim told us, who said, Abu Bakr, meaning Nahshali, told us, from Husayn bin Abdullah, from Ikrima, from Ibn Abbas, and he related it. Its chain is daif because of Husayn bin Abdullah bin Ubaydullah bin Abbas Hashimi Madani, who is daif by the agreement of the scholars, and Bayhaqi also narrated it by this route (10/346), saying, "Husayn bin Abdullah was declared daif by most of the hadith scholars."As for the statement "Abu Bakr, meaning Nahshali," this is a mistake on the part of the narrator, and the correct attribution is that he is Abu Bakr bin Abu Sabra, as found in Hakim (1/19) and Bayhaqi (10/346). Abu Bakr is Ibn Abdullah bin Muhammad bin Abu Sabra Qurashi Amiri Madani, whom they accused of fabrication.Umm Ibrahim remained a slave during the lifetime of the Prophet ﷺ, and after his death she became free, and this is the view of the majority. As for the notion of manumission through childbirth, no scholar of any standing held that view.
