The Messenger of Allah ﷺ handed over a man to Hafsah bint Umar and said to her, "Keep watch over him."Hafsah became distracted, and the man slipped away. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then came in and asked, "Hafsah, what happened to the man?"She replied, "I was distracted from watching him, Messenger of Allah, and he left."The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "May Allah cut off your hand!" So she raised her hands like this. Then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ came in and asked, "What is the matter with you, Hafsah?"She said, "Messenger of Allah, you said earlier such and such."He said to her, "Put your hands down. I have asked Allah that whenever I invoke against any person from my community, He make it a means of forgiveness for that person."
