I lived through eight years of the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and I was born in the year of Uhud.
أدركت ثمان سنين من حياة رسول الله ﷺ وولدت عام أحد.
Ahmad narrated it (23799), and through his route Tabarani in al-Awsat (4302). Thabit bin Walid bin Abdullah bin Jami narrated to us, my father told me, he said, Abu Tufayl said to me, then he mentioned the hadith. The wording is that of Tabarani, while Ahmad's wording is abbreviated, "I was born in the year of Uhud." Its chain is hasan because of Thabit and his father Walid, for both of them are truthful. Abu Tufayl's name is Amir bin Wathila bin Abdullah al-Laythi al-Kinani, and he was the very last of the companions to die, in the year 110 AH.Wahb bin Jareer bin Hazim said, on the authority of his father, "I was in Makkah in the year one hundred and ten, and I saw a funeral procession, so I asked about it, and I was told, Abu Tufayl."See al-Isabah (10196).
