The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me to the tribe of Bahilah. When I arrived, I found them eating. They welcomed me and treated me with honor, saying, "Come and eat."I replied, "I have come to forbid you from this food. I am the messenger of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, sent to you so that you may believe in him."They denied me and rebuked me, so I left, hungry and thirsty, suffering severe hardship. I fell asleep, and in my sleep I was brought a drink of milk. I drank it, was fully quenched, and my belly became full. The people then said, "A man from among your best and noblest came to you, and you turned him away. Go to him and offer him whatever food and drink he desires."They came to me with food, but I said, "I have no need for your food or your drink, for Allah has fed me and given me drink. Look at the state I am in."They looked, and they believed in me and in what I had brought from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.

Tabarani related it in al-Kabir (8/343-344) from Muhammad bin Abdus bin Kamil Sarraj, who said, Muhammad bin Ali bin Hasan bin Shaqiq narrated to us, who said, my father narrated to us, who said, Husayn bin Waqid narrated to us, from Abu Ghalib, from Abu Umama, who said, then he mentioned it.Its chain is hasan, because of Abu Ghalib, whose name is Hazwar, the companion of Abu Umama, for there is disagreement about him. Ibn Saad, Abu Hatim, and Nasai graded him daif, while Ibn Main said, "His hadith is acceptable." Ibn Adi said, "I have not seen among his hadiths anything extremely objectionable, and I hope there is no harm in him."And that is as he said, for there is no objectionable content in this hadith, and it is not among the hadiths of legal rulings. His saying, "Bahilah," refers to the tribe of Abu Umama Sudayy bin Ajlan Bahili, whom the Prophet ﷺ sent to call them to monotheism. And his saying, "while they were eating," it is mentioned in Mujam al-Kabir (8/335, no. 8073) that they were eating blood.
