Ibn Abbas said to him and to Ali bin Abdullah, "Go to Abu Saeed and listen to his hadith."So they went to him while he and his brother were in their orchard watering it. When he saw us, he came over, wrapped himself in his garment, sat down, and said, "We were carrying the bricks for the mosque one by one, while Ammar was carrying them two at a time. The Prophet ﷺ passed by him, wiped the dust off his head, and said, 'Alas for Ammar! A rebellious group will kill him. Ammar will be calling them to Allah while they call him to the Fire.'"
أن ابن عباس قال له ولعلي بن عبد الله: ائتيا أبا سعيد فاسمعا من حديثه، فأتيا وهو وأخوه في حائط لهما يسقيانه، فلما رآنا جاء فاحتبى وجلس فقال: كنا ننقل لبن المسجد لبنة لبنة، وكان عمار ينقل لبنتين لبنتين، فمر به النبي ﷺ ومسح عن رأسه الغبار وقال: ويح عمار تقتله الفئة الباغية، عمار يدعوهم إلى الله ويدعونه إلى النار.
