The Prophet ﷺ was brought a bowl of tharid and ate from it, leaving some food behind. He said, "A man from the people of Paradise will enter through this pass and eat what remains."Saad said, "I had left my brother Umayr bin Abu Waqqas getting ready to come to the Prophet ﷺ, and I hoped he would be the one. But Abdullah bin Salam came and ate it."
أن النبي ﷺ أتي بقصعة من ثريد فأكل، ففضل عنه فضلة، فقال: يدخل من هذا الفج رجل من أهل الجنة، يأكل هذه الفضلة. قال سعد: وقد كنت تركت أخي عمير بن أبي وقاص يتهيأ لأن يأتي النبي ﷺ، طمعت أن يكون هو، فجاء عبد الله بن سلام فأكلها.
Ahmad narrated it (1458, 1591), Ibn Hibban graded it sahih (7164), and Hakim (3/416), all through routes from Hammad bin Salama, who reported to us from Asim bin Bahdala, from Musab bin Saad, from his father, and he related it. Its chain is hasan because of Asim bin Bahdala, for his hadith is hasan.
