Talq said, "I came to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and said, 'Messenger of Allah, send my brother Zayd with me.'"He replied, "Here he is. If he wishes to go with you, I will not prevent him."Zayd said, "Messenger of Allah, by Allah, I will not choose anyone over you."Talq said, "I found my brother's view to be better than my own."
Tirmidhi (3815) narrated it, as did Ibn Qani in Mujam Sahaba (1/161), and Tabarani in Kabir (2/322), and Hakim declared it sahih (3/214), all of them through the route of Ismail bin Abu Khalid, from Abu Amr Shaybani (whose name was Saad bin Iyas), who said, Jabala bin Haritha, the brother of Zayd bin Haritha, told me, and then he mentioned it.Tirmidhi said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith, we do not know it except through the report of Ibn Rumi, from Ali bin Mushir," meaning from Ismail bin Abu Khalid.I say, its chain of transmission is sahih, and Tirmidhi's statement should be understood as referring to the specific route he presented.Zayd bin Haritha was martyred during the lifetime of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ on the day of Muta, in the year 8 AH, at the age of fifty five.
