Bukhari related it in the Book of Seeking Permission (6289), and Muslim in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2482-146), both through the route of Mutamir bin Sulayman, who said, "I heard my father say, I heard Anas bin Malik say," and he mentioned it. This is the wording of Bukhari, and the wording of Muslim is similar to it.In another wording, "The Messenger of Allah ﷺ came to me while I was playing with the boys. He said, He greeted us and sent me on an errand. I was slow in returning to my mother, and when I came she said, 'What kept you?' I said, 'The Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent me on an errand.' She said, 'What was his errand?' I said, 'It is a secret.' She said, 'Do not tell anyone the secret of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ.'" Anas said, "By Allah, if I were to tell anyone about it, I would tell you, Thabit."Muslim related it in the Book of the Virtues of the Companions (2482-145) from Abu Bakr bin Nafi, who said, Hammad narrated to us, Thabit informed us, from Anas, who said, and he mentioned it.Among the reports about Anas is what Tirmidhi related from Mahmud bin Ghaylan, who said, Abu Dawud (Tayalisi) narrated to us, from Abu Khaldah, who said, I said to Abu Aliyah, "Did Anas hear from the Prophet ﷺ?" He said, "He served him for ten years, and the Prophet ﷺ prayed for him. He had a garden that bore fruit twice a year, and in it there was sweet basil from which the scent of musk could be smelled."He said, "This is a hasan gharib hadith. Abu Khaldah's name is Khalid bin Dinar, and he is trustworthy according to the people of hadith. He met Anas bin Malik and narrated from him."
