Abu Hurairah reported,

The Prophet ﷺ said, "None of you should say, 'Allah, forgive me if You will,' for Allah cannot be compelled by anyone. Rather, let him be firm and resolute in his request."

وبإسناده عن النبي ﷺ قال لا يقولن أحدكم اللهم اغفر لي إن شئت فإن الله عز وجل لا مستكره له ولكن ليعزم في المسألة
