Its isnad is sahih. Asim Ibn Bahdala is the author of the famous recitation by which most Muslims read the Quran today, transmitted through Hafs from him. He was a trustworthy imam, but they criticized him because he became confused in the latter part of his life. The hadith is found in Muslim, in the Book of Faith, chapter on doubts concerning faith, 1/119, no. 132, and in Tabarani's Al-Kabir 10/101, no. 10024, and in Abu Awana 1/79.
