Ubayda reported,

When Ali killed the people of Nahrawan, he said, "Search for him." They found him in a pit beneath the slain, and they pulled him out.Ali turned to his companions and said, "Were it not that you might become arrogant, I would tell you what Allah has promised, on the tongue of Muhammad ﷺ, to those who kill these people."I asked, "Did you yourself hear it from the Messenger of Allah ﷺ?"He replied, "Yes, by the Lord of the Kaabah."

عن عبيدة قال

لما قتل علي أهل النهروان قال التمسوه فوجدوه في حفرة تحت القتلى فاستخرجوه وأقبل علي رضي الله عنه على أصحابه فقال لولا أن تبطروا لأخبرتكم ما وعد الله من يقتل هؤلاء على لسان محمد ﷺ قلت أنت سمعته من رسول الله ﷺ قال إي ورب الكعبة
