The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Whoever leaves behind wealth, it belongs to his family, and whoever leaves behind dependents with nothing, they are my responsibility."
وبإسناده قال قال رسول الله ﷺ من ترك مالا فلأهله ومن ترك ضياعا فإلي
Its chain of transmission is sahih, as established by the preceding one. The hadith is found in Abu Dawud, 2/137, no. 2954, in the chapter on tribute, in the section on the provisions for offspring, and in Tirmidhi, 4/413, no. 2090, in the chapter on inheritance shares, in the section on what has been said about one who leaves property, it goes to his heirs, where he said, hasan sahih, and in Ibn Majah, 2/807, no. 2416, in the chapter on charity, on the authority of Jabir.
