The Prophet ﷺ said, "You will be eager for leadership, but it will become a source of regret and sorrow on the Day of Resurrection. What an excellent nurse it is, and what a wretched weaner."
حدثنا يزيد بن هارون قال أخبرنا ابن أبي ذئب عن المقبري
عن النبي ﷺ قال إنكم ستحرصون على الإمارة وستصير ندامة وحسرة يوم القيامة فبئست المرضعة ونعمت الفاطمة
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Bukhari related it, 9/79, in the Chapter on Rulings, on what is disliked concerning eagerness for authority, and Nasai, 7/162, no. 4211, in the Chapter on the Pledge of Allegiance, on what is disliked concerning eagerness for authority, and Ibn Abu Shayba, 12/216, no. 12588.
