A man came to the Prophet ﷺ and said, "So-and-so prays at night, but when morning comes, he steals."The Prophet ﷺ replied, "What he recites will soon restrain him."
حدثنا وكيع حدثنا الأعمش قال أخبرنا أبو صالح
جاء رجل إلى النبي ﷺ فقال إن فلانا يصلي بالليل فإذا أصبح سرق قال إنه سينهاه ما يقول
Its isnad is sahih. Bayhaqi related it through his route in Shuab, and Haythami mentioned it in 2/258 and 7/89, attributing it to him and to Bazzar. In the first instance he said, "The men of Bazzar are the men of the Sahih," and in the second he said, "The men of Ahmad are the men of the Sahih." The hadith was also related by Bazzar 720-721-722 Kashf, and Ibn Hibban 6/300 no. 2560 Ihsan.
