Some meat was brought to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ, and the foreleg was offered to him, which was a portion he particularly enjoyed. He took a bite from it, then said, "I will be the master of mankind on the Day of Resurrection. Do you know why that is?Allah will gather the first and the last on one plain, where a single caller can be heard by all and a single gaze can take them all in. The sun will draw near, and the people will be overcome with such anguish and distress that they cannot bear or endure it.Some of the people will say to others, 'Do you not see the state you are in? Do you not see what has befallen you? Will you not look for someone to intercede for you with your Lord
?'Some will say to others, 'Go to your father Adam.'So they will come to Adam ﷺ and say, 'Adam, you are the father of mankind. Allah created you with His own hand, breathed into you of His spirit, and commanded the angels to prostrate to you, and they did. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'Adam
will reply, 'My Lord
is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never been angry before, and the like of which He will never be angry after. He forbade me from the tree, and I disobeyed Him. Myself, myself, myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else. Go to Nuh.'So they will come to Nuh ﷺ and say, 'Nuh, you were the first messenger sent to the people of the earth, and Allah named you a grateful servant. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'Nuh will reply, 'My Lord is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never been angry before, and the like of which He will never be angry after. I once made a prayer against my people. Myself, myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else. Go to Ibrahim.'So they will come to Ibrahim and say, 'Ibrahim, you are the Prophet of Allah and His intimate friend from among the people of the earth. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'Ibrahim will say to them, 'My Lord is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never been angry before, and the like of which He will never be angry after.' Then he will mention his three statements that were not strictly true. 'Myself, myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else. Go to Musa
.'So they will come to Musa and say, 'Musa, you are the Messenger of Allah. Allah favored you with His messages and by speaking with you above all people. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'Musa will say to them, 'My Lord is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never been angry before, and the like of which He will never be angry after. I killed a soul I had not been commanded to kill. Myself, myself, myself, myself. Go to someone else. Go to Isa.'So they will come to Isa and say, 'Isa, you are the Messenger of Allah, His word that He cast to Maryam, and a spirit from Him.'" He said, "That is how it is. 'You spoke to people from the cradle. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'Isa will say to them, 'My Lord is angry today with an anger the like of which He has never been angry before, and the like of which He will never be angry after.'" He did not mention any sin of his. "'Go to someone else. Go to Muhammad ﷺ.'So they will come to me and say, 'Muhammad, you are the Messenger of Allah and the seal of the prophets. Allah has forgiven your earlier and later sins. Intercede for us with your Lord. Do you not see the state we are in? Do you not see what has befallen us?'So I will rise and go beneath the Throne, where I will fall in prostration before my Lord
. Then Allah will inspire me with such praises and beautiful expressions of His glory as He has never inspired anyone before me.Then it will be said, 'Muhammad, raise your head. Ask, and you will be granted. Intercede, and your intercession will be accepted.'I will say, 'My Lord, my people, my people. My Lord, my people, my people. My Lord, my people, my people. My Lord.'He will say, 'Muhammad, admit those of your people who have no reckoning against them through the right gate of Paradise, while they will share the other gates with the rest of the people.'"Then he said, "By the One in whose hand is the soul of Muhammad, the distance between two leaves of the gates of Paradise is like the distance between Makkah and Hajar, or like the distance between Makkah and Busra."
