Muhammad bin Ziyad reported,

Marwan used to appoint Abu Hurayrah as his deputy over Madinah. He would stamp his foot and call out, "Clear the way, clear the way, the governor has come, the governor has come."Then he would say, Abu Qasim ﷺ said, "Allah will not look at the one who drags his lower garment out of arrogance."

كان مروان يستخلف أبا هريرة على المدينة فيضرب برجله فيقول خلوا الطريق خلوا قد جاء الأمير قد جاء الأمير قال أبو القاسم ﷺ لا ينظر الله إلى من جر إزاره بطرا
