The Prophet ﷺ said, "The one who takes back his gift is like a dog that eats until full, then vomits, and then returns to its vomit."
حدثنا يحيى عن عوف قال حدثنا خلاس
عن النبي ﷺ قال مثل الذي يعود في هبته مثل الكلب إذا شبع قاء ثم عاد في قيئه
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Bukhari related it 3/207 in the Book of Gifts, on a man's gift to his wife, and Muslim 3/1241 no. 1622 in the Book of Gifts, on the prohibition of taking back charity and gifts, and Abu Dawud 3538 in the Book of Sales, on taking back a gift, and Tirmidhi similarly 3/583 no. 1298.
