The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "If you disagree or dispute over a path, leave seven cubits for it."
حدثنا يحيى قال أخبرنا المثنى بن سعيد قال حدثنا قتادة عن بشير بن كعب
أن رسول الله ﷺ قال إذا اختلفتم أو تشاجرتم في الطريق فدعوا سبعة أذرع
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Muslim narrated it 3/1232 #1613 in "Al-Musaqat," "The width of the path when they disagree over it." Ibn Majah narrated it 2/784 #2339 in "Al-Ahkam," "When they dispute over the width of the path." Tayalisi narrated it 1/275 #1387, Minha, and Ibn Abu Shayba 7/255 #3075.
