A woman came to the Prophet ﷺ with a young son of hers and said, "Messenger of Allah, pray to Allah for him, for I have already buried three."He replied, "You have indeed built yourself a strong barrier against the Fire."Hafs said, "I heard this hadith sixty years ago, when I had not yet reached ten years of age."I heard Hafs mention these words in the year 187.
حدثنا علي بن عبد الله حدثنا حفص بن غياث بن طلق بن معاوية النخعي قال سمعت طلق بن معاوية قال سمعت أبا زرعة يحدث
أن امرأة أتت النبي ﷺ بصبي لها فقالت يا رسول الله ادع الله له فقد دفنت ثلاثة فقال لقد احتظرت بحظار شديد من النار قال حفص سمعت هذا الحديث من ستين سنة ولم أبلغ عشر سنين وسمعت حفصا يذكر هذا الكلام سنة سبع وثمانين ومائة
Its isnad is sahih. Muslim narrated it in the chapter on righteousness, on the virtue of one whose child dies, 4/2030, no. 2636, Nasai in the chapter on funerals, on one who has three children pass away before him, 4/26, and Bayhaqi, 4/67, in the chapter on funerals, on what is hoped for in misfortune.
