No man after the Messenger of Allah ﷺ who put on sandals, walked in them, mounted riding-beasts, or wore the saddle was more excellent than Jafar bin Ubayy Talib, meaning in generosity and nobility.
حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا وهيب قال حدثنا خالد عن عكرمة
ما احتذى النعال ولا انتعل ولا ركب المطايا ولا لبس الكور من رجل بعد رسول الله ﷺ أفضل من جعفر بن أبي طالب يعني في الجود والكرم
Its isnad is sahih. Tirmidhi related it in "Virtues," "Virtues of Jafar," 5/654, no. 3764, and said, Hasan sahih ghareeb. Hakim also related it in 3/41, in "Campaigns," "Mention of the merit of Jafar," and graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
