The Prophet ﷺ forbade the practice of fara and atirah.Muhammad said, "I myself heard this from Muamar."
حدثنا محمد بن جعفر قال حدثنا شعبة عن معمر عن الزهري عن سعيد بن المسيب
عن النبي ﷺ أنه نهى عن الفرع والعتيرة قال محمد وقد سمعته أنا من معمر

Its isnad is sahih. The hadith "There is no faraa and no atirah" was narrated by Bukhari 7/110, in the chapter on Aqiqah, section on Faraa, and Muslim 3/1564 no. 1976, in the chapter on Sacrifices, section on Faraa and Atirah, and Abu Dawud 3/105 no. 2831 with similar wording, and likewise Tirmidhi 4/95 no. 1512, and Nasai 7/167 no. 4222.
