Its isnad is sahih. Muhammad bin Abdullah bin Ammar bin Sawada Azdi was one of the trustworthy, prolific memorizers of hadith, and some scholars of hadith placed him on par with Ali bin Madini in the knowledge of hadith. Qasim Jarmi is Qasim bin Yazid, who was a memorizer of hadith and a jurist, and Abu Hatim and others deemed him trustworthy. Sufyan is Thawri. Khalid bin Alqama is Abu Hayya Wadii, whom Ibn Main, Nasai, and others deemed trustworthy, and he is the one about whom a group of scholars of hadith claimed that Shuba misspelled his name and called him Malik bin Arafah. We have already refuted that in detail in our commentary on Tirmidhi, 1:67–70. This hadith is a repetition of 919. The narration of Shuba will come later in fuller form as 989.
