The Prophet ﷺ said, "Hasten to do good deeds before six things appear: the rising of the sun from its place of setting, the Dajjal, the smoke, the beast of the earth, the private affair of one of you, and the general affair."Whenever Qatada mentioned "the general affair," he would explain, "He means the affair of the Hour."
حدثنا عفان قال حدثنا همام قال حدثنا قتادة عن الحسن عن زياد بن رياح
أن النبي ﷺ قال بادروا بالأعمال ستا طلوع الشمس من مغربها والدجال والدخان ودابة الأرض وخويصة أحدكم وأمر العامة وكان قتادة يقول إذا قال وأمر العامة قال أي أمر الساعة
Its chain of transmission is sahih. Muslim narrated it, 4/2267, no. 2947, in "Fitan," a section of hadiths about Dajjal, and Ibn Majah, 2/1348, no. 4056, in "Fitan," "Signs," from Anas, and Busiri graded it hasan in Zawaid, and Hakim, 4/516, in "Fitan," graded it sahih, and Dhahabi agreed with him.
