Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Ibrahim never told a lie except on three occasions. Twice concerning Allah: when he said, 'I am indeed sick' [Saffat 37:89], and when he said, 'Rather, this, the biggest of them, did it' [Anbiya 21:63]. And once when he said of Sarah, 'She is my sister.'"He continued, "Ibrahim once entered a town where there was a king, or a tyrant, and it was said to him, 'Ibrahim has come tonight with a woman who is among the most beautiful of people.' So the king, or the tyrant, sent word to him asking, 'Who is this woman with you?'Ibrahim answered, 'She is my sister.'The king said, 'Send her to me.'So Ibrahim sent her to him, and he said to her, 'Do not contradict me. I have told him you are my sister. There is no believer on the face of the earth apart from me and you.'When she came in to him, he rose toward her. She began to perform wudu and pray, saying, 'Allah, if You know that I have believed in You and in Your Messenger, and have guarded my chastity for none but my husband, then do not give this unbeliever power over me.' At that he was seized with choking and thrashed about with his leg."Abu Zinad reported that Abu Salama bin Abdul-Rahman related from Abu Hurairah that she then said, "Allah, if he dies, they will say that I killed him."So he was released, and he rose toward her again. She stood, performed wudu, prayed, and said, "Allah, if You know that I have believed in You and in Your Messenger, and have guarded my chastity for none but my husband, then do not give this unbeliever power over me." Again he was seized with choking and thrashed about with his leg.Abu Zinad reported that Abu Salama related from Abu Hurairah that she said, "Allah, if he dies, they will say that I killed him."So he was released. Then on the third or the fourth occasion he said, "You have sent me nothing but a devil. Return her to Ibrahim, and give her Hajar."She went back and said to Ibrahim, "Do you realize that Allah turned back the scheming of the unbeliever, and provided a servant girl to serve us?"

حدثنا علي بن حفص قال حدثنا ورقاء عن أبي الزناد عن الأعرج

عن أبي هريرة قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ لم يكذب إبراهيم إلا ثلاث كذبات قوله حين دعي إلى آلهتهم {إني سقيم} وقوله {فعله كبيرهم هذا} وقوله لسارة إنها أختي قال ودخل إبراهيم قرية فيها ملك من الملوك أو جبار من الجبابرة فقيل دخل إبراهيم الليلة بامرأة من أحسن الناس قال فأرسل إليه الملك أو الجبار من هذه معك قال أختي قال أرسل بها قال فأرسل بها إليه وقال لها لا تكذبي قولي فإني قد أخبرته أنك أختي إن على الأرض مؤمن غيري وغيرك قال فلما دخلت إليه قام إليها قال فأقبلت توضأ وتصلي وتقول اللهم إن كنت تعلم أني آمنت بك وبرسولك وأحصنت فرجي إلا على زوجي فلا تسلط علي الكافر قال فغط حتى ركض برجله قال أبو الزناد قال أبو سلمة بن عبد الرحمن عن أبي هريرة أنها قالت اللهم إنه إن يمت يقل هي قتلته قال فأرسل ثم قام إليها فقامت توضأ وتصلي وتقول اللهم إن كنت تعلم أني آمنت بك وبرسولك وأحصنت فرجي إلا على زوجي فلا تسلط علي الكافر قال فغط حتى ركض برجله قال أبو الزناد قال أبو سلمة عن أبي هريرة أنها قالت اللهم إنه إن يمت يقل هي قتلته قال فأرسل فقال في الثالثة أو الرابعة ما أرسلتم إلي إلا شيطانا ارجعوها إلى إبراهيم وأعطوها هاجر قال فرجعت فقالت لإبراهيم أشعرت أن الله عز وجل رد كيد الكافر وأخدم وليدة
