Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Shall I tell you who is the best of mankind?"They answered, "Yes, Messenger of Allah."He said, "A man holding the reins of his horse in the cause of Allah , who mounts it whenever there is an alarm. Shall I tell you who comes next?"They said, "Yes."He said, "A man among a small flock of sheep, who establishes the prayer and pays the zakat. Shall I tell you who is the worst of mankind?"They said, "Yes."He said, "The one who is asked in the name of Allah but gives nothing for His sake."

حدثنا إسحاق بن عيسى قال حدثنا أبو معشر عن أبي وهب مولى أبي هريرة

عن أبي هريرة قال

قال رسول الله ﷺ ألا أخبركم بخير البرية قالوا بلى يا رسول الله قال رجل آخذ بعنان فرسه في سبيل الله عز وجل كلما كانت هيعة استوى عليه ألا أخبركم بالذي يليه قالوا بلى قال الرجل في ثلة من غنمه يقيم الصلاة ويؤتي الزكاة ألا أخبركم بشر البرية قالوا بلى قال الذي يسأل بالله ولا يعطي به
