The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Woe to the Arabs from an evil that has drawn near. Trials will come like patches of dark night. A man will wake up a believer and reach the evening a disbeliever. People will sell their religion for a small worldly gain. The one who holds firmly to his religion on that day will be like one grasping a burning coal," or he said, "like one grasping thorns."Hasan said in his version, "the prick of a thorn."

قال رسول الله ﷺ ويل للعرب من شر قد اقترب فتنا كقطع الليل المظلم يصبح الرجل مؤمنا ويمسي كافرا يبيع قوم دينهم بعرض من الدنيا قليل المتمسك يومئذ بدينه كالقابض على الجمر أو قال على الشوك قال حسن في حديثه خبط الشوكة
