The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person, nor for one who is sound and able-bodied."
Its isnad is sahih. It has already appeared at 6798, and it is found in Abu Dawud 2/118 no. 1634, in the chapter on zakat, on who is not permitted to receive charity, and in Tirmidhi 3/33 no. 652, in the chapter on zakat, on what has been said about who is not permitted to receive charity, where he said, hasan. It is also in Nasai 5/99 no. 2596, in the chapter on zakat, when a person has no dirhams but has their equivalent, and in Hakim 1/407.There is some obscurity in this isnad for someone not experienced in this discipline. The clarification is that Ahmad reports it from Aswad and Husayn from Abu Bakr bin Ayyash from Abu Husayn, and by the same chain also from Yahya bin Ishaq from Abu Bakr bin Ayyash from Abu Husayn. For this reason the letter ha was placed from another copy for clarification.
