The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said about Medina, "You will surely leave it in the best state it has ever been, open and accessible to the beasts of prey," meaning the wild animals and birds.
حدثنا علي قال حدثنا أبو صفوان قال أخبرني يونس عن ابن شهاب قال أخبرني سعيد بن المسيب أنه
قال رسول الله ﷺ للمدينة لتتركنها على خير ما كانت مذللة للعوافي يعني السباع والطير
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari narrated it, 4/89, no. 1784, Fath, Book of Umrah, chapter on one who dislikes Madinah, and Muslim in the Book of Hajj, chapter on Madinah when its people abandon it, 2/1009, no. 1389, both from Abu Hurairah.
