Abu Hurairah reported,

The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "By Him in whose hand my soul rests, were it not that I would place a hardship on my community, I would never remain behind when a raiding party sets out in the way of Allah . But I do not have the mounts to carry them, nor do they have the means to follow me, and it would grieve them to be left behind when I go."

وبإسناده قال وقال رسول الله ﷺ والذي نفسي بيده لولا أن أشق على أمتي ما قعدت خلاف سرية تغدو في سبيل الله عز وجل ولكن لا أجد ما أحملهم ولا يجدون سعة فيتبعوني ولا تطيب أنفسهم أن يتخلفوا بعدي
