The Prophet ﷺ said, "There is no owner of a treasure who fails to pay the zakat due on it but that it will be brought on the Day of Resurrection along with him, and plates of it will be heated in the Fire of Hell and used to brand his forehead, his side, and his back, until Allah has judged between His servants on a Day whose length is fifty thousand years by your reckoning. Then he will be shown his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire."And there is no owner of camels who fails to pay the zakat due on them but that he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection along with his camels, in the fullest and healthiest state they ever had, and he will be laid face down for them on a flat, level plain. Each time the last of them has passed over him, the first of them will be brought back to him, until Allah has judged between His servants on a Day whose length is fifty thousand years by your reckoning. Then he will be shown his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire."And there is no owner of sheep who fails to pay the zakat due on them but that he will be brought on the Day of Resurrection along with his sheep, in the fullest state they ever had, and he will be laid face down for them on a flat, level plain. They will trample him with their hooves and gore him with their horns. Each time the last of them has passed over him, the first of them will be brought back to him, until Allah has judged between His servants on a Day whose length is fifty thousand years by your reckoning. Then he will be shown his path, either to Paradise or to the Fire."Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what about horses?"He replied, "Horses have good tied to their forelocks until the Day of Resurrection. Horses are of three kinds. For one man they are a reward, for another they are a shield, and for another they are a burden of sin."As for the one for whom they are a reward, he is the man who acquires them and keeps them for the sake of Allah. Whatever they take into their bellies is a reward for him. If they gallop across a stretch of ground or two, he earns a reward for every stride they take. If he passes a river and lets them drink from it, he earns a reward for every drop that goes into their bellies." He even mentioned a reward in their dung and their urine."As for the one for whom they are a shield, he is the man who acquires them out of self-sufficiency, dignity, and generosity, and does not forget the right due on their backs and in their bellies, in hardship and in ease."As for the one for whom they are a burden of sin, he is the man who acquires them out of arrogance, vanity, showing off before people, and boasting."Someone asked, "Messenger of Allah, what about donkeys?"He answered, "Nothing has been revealed to me about them except this comprehensive and unique verse, 'So whoever does an atom's weight of good will see it, and whoever does an atom's weight of evil will see it'" [Zalzalah 99:7–8].
