He heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ say, "Tell me, if there were a river at the door of one of you and he bathed in it five times a day, would any dirt remain on him?"They replied, "No dirt would remain on him at all."He said, "That is the likeness of the five daily prayers. Through them Allah wipes away sins."
حدثنا قتيبة بن سعيد قال حدثنا بكر بن مضر عن ابن الهاد عن محمد بن إبراهيم عن أبي سلمة
أنه سمع رسول الله ﷺ يقول أرأيتم لو أن نهرا بباب أحدكم يغتسل منه كل يوم خمس مرات ما تقولون هل يبقى من درنه قالوا لا يبقى من درنه شيء قال ذاك مثل الصلوات الخمس يمحو الله بها الخطايا
Its isnad is sahih, and it is found in the six books. Bukhari related it, 1/141, in the Book of the Times of Prayer, the chapter on the five prayers as expiation, and Muslim, 1/462, no. 667, in the Book of Mosques, the chapter on walking to prayer, and Tirmidhi, 5/151, no. 2868, in the Book of Parables, the chapter on what has been said about the parable of the five prayers, where he said it is hasan sahih, and Nasai, 1/231, no. 462, in the Book of Prayer, the chapter on the virtue of the five prayers, and Darimi, 1/283, no. 1183.Al-daran is the grime that accumulates on the body.
