The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person, nor for one who is strong and able-bodied."
حدثنا يحيى بن إسحاق أخبرني أبو بكر بن عياش أنبأنا أبو حصين عن سالم بن أبي الجعد
قال رسول الله ﷺ إن الصدقة لا تحل لغني ولا لذي مرة سوي
Its isnad is sahih. It has occurred previously under numbers 6798 and 6530, and will come again at 9038 and 23076. The hadith was narrated by the leading scholars with the wording, "Charity is not lawful for a wealthy person"... Abu Dawud 1634, Tirmidhi 652, Ibn Majah 1839, Abdul-Razzaq 7155, Ibn Abu Shayba 3/207, Hakim 1/407, and Ibn Khuzayma 2387.
