The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said, "My heirs shall not divide a single Dinar. Whatever I leave behind, after the maintenance of my wives and the wages of my worker," meaning the worker on his land, "is charity."
Its isnad is sahih. Bukhari reported it (15/4, in the Book of Wills, on the maintenance of the caretaker of an endowment), and Muslim (3/1382, no. 1760, in the Book of Jihad, on the Prophet's saying, "We are not inherited from"), and Abu Dawud (3/144, no. 2974, in the Book of Land Revenue, on the properties of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ), and Malik (2/993, in the Book of Speech, on what has been reported concerning the estate of the Prophet).
